Hi there!

Thanks to my wonderful generous friends who supported me in fundraising for Diabetes NSW&ACT. 

Many of you may not know that I am Type 1 diabetic. My brother is too. After lots of procrastination, I signed-up for the 2022 Great Ocean Road Trek to raise funds to support others who are living with diabetes. And to prove to myself that I can still make things happen. 

I was not confident that I was fit enough for the challenge but I surprised myself. it must have been all that training with my trusty 4-legged friend Freja.  We passed through beautiful countryside - albeit muddy after all the rain - and it was green and lush. I was surprised by all the koalas - they come in super size in the Otways! Some of the hills were daunting and very tiring but willpower and  commitment saw us through. The oldest member of our team, Bob, was 77 and a true inspiration. Chloe - our youngster at 19 - skipped along and made us all remember what it was like to be young! 

Our group came together as strangers but with a shared goal - and left as friends. There was always someone to support you through tough bits.  And we will all be the better and healthier for our participation. 

So, I encourage you to give it a go yourself next year.
